My Baseball Brother (dedicated to Pacen “Young Buck” Hayes

Four years ago I was a child among men
now you are there not knowing how it will end
now I am leaving the team to you
it is your turn to lead the crew.
My right hand man and my baseball brother
always has my back
as we look out for one another
we may fight and call each other names
but we always seem to put out the flames
we’ve been through it all in just one year
so lets go to state to end my high school career.
my baseball brother the young buck
I pass the torch to you so tear it up.

Creed

If this is a test and you already know the answer
then what is the point?
We do something wrong and disappoint
but you already knew so how can you misconstrue?
Many people follow you but don’t do as you do
live a whole different life
then put on their suit and tie
eat the bread and water
then all of a sudden think they’re hotter.
Now the steeple filled with people
is just a building filled with the unwilling.
Religion such a mysterious thing
will not fill your life with bling.
It can rejoice your heart and make you sing
but do it wrong and we might just go extinct.

Mirrors

staring in the broken glass
the cracks and rough surface
staring back not cutting any slack
representing life and everyone around
the mirror still works And captures the background
sees your face and shows you off
sees you twitch sees you cough
but one thing it can’t see is the inside.
you can see it’s cracks but it just stares back.
it shows your surface but not your furnace
it doesn’t show what keeps you warm
it only shows the clothes you’ve worn.
a mirror shows your styles
but it fails to show what matters most…your trials.

The Forgottens

so many gifts that go to waste
buried, forgotten
and lost into tomorrow.
smiles and memories of the past
buried, forgotten
and lost without  a sorrow.
new gifts and memories will be made waiting to be forgotten
before they are displayed.

This Is America (in response to the Coca-Cola commercial uproar)

We live in a country of many different cultures
protected all by the same soldiers.
Its what we are its who we are.
This is America
land of the free and home of the brave
we fought through the era of the slave
all men created equal
This is america, We The People.
Through a civil war our country was reborn
by one African American our country transformed.
Black, White, Asian, or Mexican
we all live here and all feel secure.
One country, many languages
one country, many advantages.
one commercial creates an uproar
when its who we are the greatest country ever explored.
Diversity defines us
This is America
In God We Trust.

Spying On The Past

memories a pigment of the past
lookin back at the good and the bad
taking time to remember where you came from
jump to conclusions not finding a crumb.
little pictures going through your head
trying to reminisce the things that were said
putting a smile on your face
and a sparkle in your eye
you’re in your past becoming a spy
watching the good and bad
while hopping over the sad
a pool of memories
waiting for you to dive in
but with no diving board
you stop.
and grin….and continue your journey to the end.

The Journey

what is life?
why are we here?
I’m always trying to change gear
but it keeps knocking on my door
making me think making my head sore
what’s next?
what do I do?
then I think of something new
the road never ends
but on the tires…it depends
fill up the tank
and run to tomorrow
we have no time for darkness and sorrow
keep a smile as if you couldn’t swallow
the world is a journey filled to the brim
so read between the lines and don’t forget to skim

Life, The Ultimate Hunt

we all worry about the smallest things
and never notice the blessings life brings
everyone hurries to work not to be late
like its going to change their fate

you may get fired
but why take it so seriously
just have fun
and live life instantaneously.

If you only live once
then why do it with a grunt
live life to the fullest
and make it the ultimate hunt.

The Diff

you don’t know the person next to you
the way you think you do
we all all have secrets
we all make a diff brew
diff experiences
diff opportunities
with many diff countries
you may know them
as if they are different
but you don’t know their diff
it may look like a hieroglyph
you know who they are
but not every thing
who knows what they are meant to bring?
so let them be and let their heart sing
give them room
find their diff
finish their erent
and make them different

The Struggle

poetry isn’t about big words and difficult sayings
what good will that do
when everytime I read a poem
it’s not even flowin
the words don’t make sense
and it takes away the suspense
it pulls away the sense of energy and passion
let alone lacks that special fashion
dig down and pull it out
its sitting there waiting for you to sprout
there’s no special way to write
just act as a warrior and fight
win the the struggle between body and mind.
write down your thoughts and jump to the finish line.
